Flu Doctor

Every year, the flu bug is going to circulate through the United States, and many people are going to get it. When it comes, it will be just a nuisance to some people, but others will need more serious medical attention. The Silver Star Urgent Care center has a flu doctor that can meet your needs and help you during the flu season.

The Flu Vaccine

Every year, in preparation for the flu season, a vaccine is offered to help increase your resistance to the flu. It is not always a perfect match, but it will often lessen the symptoms. Getting the flu vaccine is recommended, especially if you have a weak immune system, or if you will be around infants and young children, or around seniors.

Identifying the Flu

In the winter months, it can be difficult to tell the difference between the flu and an ordinary cold. At first, it is easy to mistake one for the other, but there will soon be a distinct difference – once you can recognize flu symptoms.

The symptoms of the flu are much more widespread than that of a common cold. While you may not have all of the following symptoms of the flu, you will have some of the following: a fever of more than 100.4 F, fatigue and weakness, aches in your muscles, chills and sweats, a headache, a cough, and a sore throat. Children may also have vomiting and diarrhea.

When the Flu Starts

You will know that you should be on the lookout for the flu when you hear of school children getting sick with it. From there, it spreads to the parents and other children.

When to See a Doctor

The flu can rapidly become serious, and when it does you will need to see a doctor quickly for treatment. Symptoms that indicate you are having serious problems with the flu and should see a flu doctor include pain in your chest or abdomen, sudden dizziness, trouble breathing, severe vomiting, or confusion.

Getting Treatment

Medications for the flu work best when they are taken within the first 48 hours after the symptoms are noticed. The Silver Star Urgent Care center can help you and your family members when you get the flu. We carry anti-viral medications for the flu, and they can shorten the time period that you have the symptoms and the seriousness of it.

Risk Levels

Although the flu is not a serious threat to most people, there are some who are more likely to come down with more serious symptoms, and possibly even deadly ones. This includes young children and seniors, and those who live and work around a lot of people. Others at an increased risk include pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses or a weakened immune system.

The Silver Star Urgent Care center has a flu doctor who is highly experienced in treating flu symptoms.
